Congratulations to chef Dominique Crenn, winner of the Icon Award 2021!

As part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, the Icon Award celebrates an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the restaurant industry and who has used their platform to raise awareness and drive positive change.

The French-born chef has paved the way for women in the world of fine dining. Not only is Chef Crenn the first female chef in the US to earn three Michelin stars for her flagship modernist restaurant, Atelier Crenn, she is also an activist, a champion of women’s rights and an icon of the restaurant community, the LGBTQ+ community and even the cancer community. She uses her voice to speak up for those less likely to be heard, and takes risks to stand up for what she believes in.

She says, “It is an incredible honour to be selected as the recipient of the 50 Best Icon Award this year. For my work to be recognised by my peers fills me with such pride and appreciation. I hope to use this platform as an opportunity to give back and to inspire the next generation to be true to themselves and to always enjoy the journey."

Dominique Crenn will officially receive the Icon Award trophy at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 awards ceremony in Antwerp, Flanders on 5th October.
